CourseKey Overview

CourseKey is an online platform and mobile application that enables schools to automatically capture and collect attendance data, create interactive content through traditional or observational assessments, and provide analytics on student, teacher, and class performance. CourseKey enables instructors and administrators to leverage the devices students already bring to class - laptops, tablets, and smartphones - to both automate timekeeping and create an interactive, paperless, live learning environment.

Attendance

CourseKey offers three location-based technology options for attendance data collection: Sound, GPS, and QR Code. Students simply tap the Attendance icon within the CourseKey application, and once the software has located them as being inside the classroom, they receive check-in credit for the day. For courses required to track minutes, a check-out session can be established for an accurate record of how many minutes a student spent in class.

Assessments

Traditional assessments can be created using 9 different question types. The digital assessments are completed by the students on their device, and many question types can be auto-graded for instant results.

Another type of assessment is an observational assessment, which is completed by instructors and supervisors to digitally score students on their proficiency in core competency requirements.

Course Chat

Students stay connected to classmates and their instructors through an online group chat. Instructors can send important notes to the students and oversee chat conversations, while students can share notes and form study groups before important tests.

Question and Answer (Inbox)

Students can send their questions directly to the instructor, similar to an email inbox, which is organized by course. Instructors can choose what to discuss during class, and what to answer one-on-one.

Grades

The online gradebook allows easy access for both students and instructors to view attendance and assessment grades.

Admin Portal

Some school administrators have access to an admin portal for additional functionality. They can view data insights for the entire school, helping to reduce student drop rate and improve retention. ***Only a limited number of users have access to this portal, so it's best to contact an Advanced CourseKey Specialist if there are any questions.***
