Best Practices for Creating Content

Some additional tips when creating content in CourseKey.

1) When copying and pasting content, paste without formatting.

2) “Short Answer” question types should only be used for questions that have a one or two word answer. Many questions listed on a document as ‘short answer’ should be created as an ‘Essay’ question type inside CourseKey (such as Describe… or Discuss….). If you are unsure which question type to use, please contact CourseKey staff.

3) For fill in the blank questions:
If the question includes a list of words to choose from, select a scoring type of ‘Exact match’.

If the question does not include a list of words to choose from, select a scoring type of ‘Any text containing’.

4) Do not capitalize letters unless they are capitalized in the content. (Especially with medical terminology, since lowercase and uppercase letters can have different meanings.)

5) Do not include the question number.
