Attendance Troubleshooting Reference

This article contains attendance troubleshooting information, separated by Instructors and Students.  Please reference the chat window to identify if the user is a student or instructor/administrator before providing suggestions.

 

Instructors

If an instructor is having trouble with attendance you will first want to ask what type of attendance they are using: Sound, QR Code, or GPS attendance.   For example:

“What type of attendance technology do you use in this course, GPS, Sound, QR Code, or Face/Print Scan?”

Students

If a student is having trouble checking in or out for attendance, you’ll first want to ask them what type of attendance they are using. For example

“What type of attendance technology do you use in this course, GPS, Sound, QR Code, or Face/Print Scan?”

Then provide them the relevant tips listed below, along with the linked article if they have additional questions.

Sound

  • Allow microphone access.
  • Move closer to the speakers.
  • Make sure your mobile device is not connected to Bluetooth headphones.
  • Check to make sure you have a strong Internet connection.
  • Turn off WiFi and use data.
  • Restart your device.

QR Code

  • Allow camera access.
  • Adjust the lighting over the display area.
  • Make sure your camera is clear of debris.
  • Check to make sure that you have a strong internet connection.
  • Turn off WiFi and use data.

GPS

Student Web App Attendance Troubleshooting (Students using a Laptop computer for attendance)

Web App GPS - Students can use the web app for GPS attendance.  If they are having issue provide the following troubleshooting suggestions.

Shortcut: /web-gps

  • Use the Chrome Browser.
  • Allow location access.
  • Check your location on your device’s map.
  • Check to make sure that you have a strong internet connection.
  • Restart your device.

 

Web App Sound or QR Code - Sound and QR code attendance are not available on the web app.  A student may be able to enter an alphanumeric code depending on their instructor or school policies. A student should speak with their instructor for more information.
